Beginning the Project

So where do I begin as far as this project goes? I guess in the long run it's a way for me to occupy my already scarce time with two things I feel passionate about: recycling and travel. With the brewery taking up so much of my time it's hard to daydream about the places I'd love to go back to, the people I want to go there with, the foods I'd love to gorge myself on, and the beers I'd love to drink (c'mon... I own a brewery... beer has to be involved)! When I think of all the good times I've had across Europe, the many different times of year I've been there, and the many countries that I've stayed in, I always default back to Munich, Germany. Perhaps my Leiderhosen were too tight, or the beer too strong, or the company too jubilant, but nonetheless I find myself daydreaming of her like a lovesick teenager.

When will I go back? When will I see her again? All these questions prompted me in my Deutscher-delerium to take German 101 at the local college. I passed with a 97% and tomorrow am signing up for German 102. Now that the language skills are coming along, I still need to find out how to get there and the answer to that is simple... a plane! Duh! If I know myself though, simply buying a ticket would be boring and lackluster, plus it would divert funds that are needed elsewhere. To solve this problem I've decided to buy my ticket bottle by bottle (not all mine of course!) and use the beer I love so much to fly me to Oktoberfest 2014!

This blog will basically be a way for me to track my progress and see how I'm doing. It will give me some incentive to keep up on the recycling (it's a slow process to buy a plane ticket with glass) and detail out the planned trip. If you're sick and twisted enough to follow my posts to myself, then I apologize now, for many of these posts will be written after a long hard day of work brewing beer and dealing with numbers (what I'm saying is that my spelling may be less than sterling). But fear not! I'll do my best to correctly represent the English language.

One confession before I go: I've already cheated and have a one weeks recycling lead on this post. If I can figure out how, I'll post a graph of the earnings here shortly. Lastly, because I'm a big guy and hate flying coach, the tickets will be for business class (approx $3500). And yes... you read that right... I said tickets plural. You don't expect me to go alone, do you?

Prost!
